Al Farooq Cultural & Development Trust Inc. This organisation was originally incorporated under the Government of New Zealand’s Charitable Trusts Act 1957 on the 10th of November 1993 under the registered name of Al Farooq Cultural and Development Trust Inc. It is also registered as a as a ‘Charitable Entity’ under the Charities Act 2005.

Physical address

The Centre is located at 34 Portage Road, Otahuhu, approximately 25 Km south of Auckland. The area is surrounded by Muslim residents from various parts of the world and have the privilege utilising maximum benefits out of the complex.

Aims and Objectives:

In addition to providing Islamic education to children, the aim of Al Farooq is to administer da’wah work and to promote and propagate the social, economic and religious well-being of Ummah.
The premise: The premises of Al Farooq Centre was purchased some with donations from Muslims families mostly from New Zealand and abroad. The complex has an area of around 4000 square meters comprises of two halls used as classrooms cum prayer hall, kitchen and ablution facilities. A garage was also converted into a classroom to cater for sisters. It also has a residence on it and is utilised to accommodate the Imam. Since the inception the Trust has been successful in purchasing two adjoining properties through bank loans the payment for which are still in progress.

Current project:

Due to lack of space and other facilities, the organisation is currently working on erecting an extension to the Centre to include a prayer halls and additional facilities such as classrooms, library, meeting room and ablution facilities for disabled. A Resource Consent has been granted and building plans are with Auckland Council pending final approval.

Officials:The Chairman of the Board of Trustees is Shiekh Manzur Hussain and Sheikh Abid Ali Hafeji is the Imam of the Centre. A Management Board is also in place to administer the running of the organisation on voluntary basis.
